Deputy President William Ruto has indicated his desire to fight back any attempts to push him into a corner over the BBI debate.

On Monday November 30th morning, the DP posted a cover photo of one of the local dailies which had carried his BBI story titled ‘Ruto Is Cornered’ and which he responded to harshly saying it was not quite easy to go down without an equal  fight.

“Cornered?? Not as easy as you think my friends. Scaling the stairs while chewing gum we do without a problem. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THING. Tremendous progress achieved. CONSENSUS on remaining ISSUES & PROCESS so as to have NON-DIVISIVE vote best OPTION,” he tweeted on Monday morning.

His ally, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who has also been flip flopping on the whole issue, weighed in asking for some more consensus arguing that time was still there to move from a non-contested Referendum. He added that those who have been issuing threats from the other camps were not genuine in helping Kenyans reach a sound document which will make every citizen proud.

“I am not a HARDLINER. I am for CONSENSUS. Hardliners are those who were telling us the document will not be changed post Bomas II but WE changed it substantially. Hardliners are those who are forcing some Kenyans to go NO for their ulterior motives. Let’s reason TOGETHER,” he wrote on Monday Nov 30th.

That said however, BBI project is in its second stage of Signature Collection what makes it hard for anyone calling for more corrections. At this stage it would be hard to even touch a comma.

It will therefore be interesting to see how this back and forth tussle between Tangatanga and their Kieleweke counterparts will finally be settled down.
