Thursday, November 3, 2022 –Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC has today summoned most of Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies to appear before it.
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli and Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo are among the latest victims of the anti-graft agency.
Their summoning is coming just hours after it also summoned Kakamega Governor Fernandees Barasa to appear before it over past economic crimes.
Murathe and Atwoli, who have been fierce defenders of the last regime, have been summoned over sh 200 million land saga in Nairobi.
The duo are said to have received the millions through a firm owned by former Lugari Lawmaker Cyrus Jirongo.
The firm, according to a report filed by the Star, received the amount after it successfully claimed ownership of the parcel situated at Mukuru Slums.
With further investigations, it would however be found out that the land actually belonged to a primary school in the area.
“Those who claimed the money as compensation did not have even a title deed to warrant being paid,” an official aware of the probe told a reporter.
The investigations un-earthed that the proceeds of the land compensation were channeled to both Atwoli and Murathe with Jirongo remaining with a fraction.
This is happening just hours after the current Kakamega Governor was also summoned over the multi-million corruption case at the Ketraco where he worked before joining politics.
