Sunday, April 30, 2023 –Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leaders has responded to President William Ruto’s ‘Commander-in-Chief’ remarks.
Addressing today Sunday April 30 at Chungwa House, Kalonzo Musyoka flanked by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua, said he only recognises Jesus Christ as the commander-in-Chief.

“My Commander-in-Chief is Jesus Christ my Lord, not William Ruto,” he answered.
On his part, former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni said he is ready to bite the assassination bullet if that is what the government is planning to do during the second round of demonstrations that kicks off on Tuesday.
“Someone said by July somebody will have died in Azimio. We are fighting for a just society. If it is me they want to take away, I am ready” he said during their Sunday April 30 afternoon press briefing held in Nairobi.
The Azimio brigade went ahead to confirm that, with or without assassination threats, they will be on the Streets on Tuesday May 2 from morning.
“Assassination threats on our leader Raila Odinga and other leaders in Azimio notwithstanding, we shall be on the streets of Nairobi on Tuesday 2nd of May 2023. We are ready,” the presser further read in part.
Mr. Musyoka wondered why President Ruto would allow a police commander to deny them green light to hold peaceful demonstrations.
“Mr. Ruto, let’s not have Bungei suspending the constitution in your name,” he posed.
The Wiper Party boss, therefore, delivered his two cents to the ruling party by urging it to allow bipartisan Committee chairman George Murugara to sit down with Otiende Amollo and agree on the pertinent issues raised by the opposition wing.

On his part, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga asked his supporters to be available on Tuesday morning as they stage their second phase of anti-State demonstrations.
Already, President William Ruto has warned the opposition of consequences should they go back to the streets when there are other lawful avenues to iron out their differences. He said this on Friday April 28 during his Bomet tour where he reminded the country that he has the commander-in-chief powers to counter any kind of threat from the opposition.
