Saturday, December 19, 2020 -The Government has signaled tough times ahead as it continues to flex muscles against tax payers pockets.
Kenyan have been enjoying free transactions on sh 1000 and below for mobile subscribers after the Central Bank of Kenya stopped charging transaction fee as part of measures to cushion citizens from effects of the global pandemic.
A day ago, CBK announced terminating charges on sh 1000 and below after holding consultations with service providers who have since been recording constant losses.
This means Kenyans will have to start paying for service amount on more than sh 100 from next year 2021 since the service rates will be reinstated but after a review is done in line with the situation as it will be.
Safaricom which is the largest Telco firm in the country has been experiencing turbulent profit records since the pandemic landed in the country.
