County governments are gearing towards imposing sturn restrictions in their areas following mass exodus of city dwellers to the villages.

The exodus which seem too scaring has been informed by the fact that those living especially in Nairobi County were running away from government plans to lock down Nairobi and Mombasa this festive season.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa who was speaking in Western part of the country noted that the movement of people to rural areas has now triggered another counter reaction from the governments to make sure their areas are locked down to reduce further spread of the virus this December Holiday.

    Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa addressing.

“I agree with the Governors that imposing a lockdown would be beneficial for everyone. It is a good move.

“Relatives and families should discuss among themselves and opt to send funds to each other for celebrations through money transfer,” Wamalwa requested.

According to the CS, it was inevitable to consider strict measures so that to stop more deaths cases after the country had recorded several deaths of politicians and doctors in the recent past.

Just a few days ago, governors had blamed the national government for remaining silent on the Covid-19 virus spread issue this festive season and went on to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to help control movements in the country.

It is now apparent that this December Holiday, there will be reduced celebrations considering schools are also planning to resume early January.
