Kenyans are once more staring at a lockdown following reports of another wave of Covid-19 infections in the country.
Nairobi and Mombasa Counties top the list of counties expected to be locked down this second rise of Covid-19 spread.
Scientists and researchers have raised an alarm over the return of the virus in the country even after it had started to slow down, throwing residents from those hotspots into panic once more.
Other counties that have been earmarked as having recorded a spike in victim numbers include Kericho, Nakuru, and Turkana Counties.
Word has reached on our Homenews.co.ke desk that the president and his inner circle including medical experts are in another round of discussion on how to shut down the said counties.
“Experts are convinced that Nakuru, Turkana and Kericho must be placed on stricter measures, while they are still debating on whether to have Nairobi and Mombasa back on lockdown,” the source said.
According to powerful sources, a final decision would be reached at in the upcoming NERC meeting to be held next Thursday October 22.
In his latest update, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was worried that Kenyans had gone back to their normal lives despite the warning to maintain social distancing as well as to continue putting on facemasks whenever they are mingling.
On his part, Council of Governors Chairman Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, also Kakamega governor, advised the CS to quickly go back to the drawing board before numbers rise to worrying levels.
