Tuesday, November 29, 2022 –A female cop who helped nurse a newborn baby after her mother had just delivered few hours to national examinations, has broken her silence.
Police Constable Gladys Kimani attached to Nyamarambe Police Station in Kisii County, received unending praises from both her colleagues as well as members of the public after photos of her cuddling the newborn surfaced online.
She had just volunteered to take care of the baby at Nduru Sub-county Hospital while the mother sat for sessions in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE.
“The girl delivered on Monday morning before she sat for the examination. I was deployed there since she was sitting for the exam and there was nobody to help her,” she told a writer.
The constable told the publication that the candidate had just delivered on the morning of Monday, November 28, a few hours before the mathematics paper started.
In her account of what exactly transpired, she disclosed that she had to move fast and save the mother who was ready to run her exam while at the same time cuddling her own baby on the hospital bed.
“As the teacher was giving her the exam, I decided to assist,” the Police Constable revealed.
“By that time, the candidate was yet to get anyone from home to help take care of the baby as she undertook her exams,” she added.
Ms Kimani also said that the little mother’s health was also not so good to be left on her own at that time.
