Monday, January 11, 2021 -Former Chief Justice David Maraga appeared a very happy man leaving office after his somewhat hard stint.
The visibly happy Maraga who started his Monday by first handing over all his official tools including cars, office keys and files to his Deputy Philomena Mwilu, bid bye to colleagues at the judiciary by urging them to stay focused to the rule of law since peace of any nation majorly depended on the judiciary.

He further advised them to stick to what the Constitution says and should not fear intimidation because their work involves dealing with criminals and politicians most of the time.
“Today is my last day in office. I thank the Almighty God for fighting my battles and guiding me to this moment. Thank you Kenyans for the opportunity to serve. God bless Kenya,” he wrote on Twitter.

Soon after leaving back to his home, he was received by wife Yucabeth Nyokabi and children before he was treated to a sumptuous cake amid family celebrations.
“Finally at home with family,” he simply captioned a photo he uploaded moments after touching down. Several photos followed showing him enjoy the rare moment with his family.

Maraga and Uhuru Kenyatta administration have had their fair share of differences with the CJ pointing an accusing finger at the governmnet for frustrating his office.
He linked his many woes to what President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised following the hotly contested 2017 general elections which he(Maraga) overturned. Angry Uhuru would shortly threaten to “revisit”.
