    Former Minister Simeon Nyachae dies, family speaks

    Monday February 1, 2021 -Simeon Nyachae 88, the former Cabinet Minister, has succumbed to long illness whiel at Nairobi Hospita.

    Confirming his death on Monday February 1, the family held a press briefing to announce how the veteran politician has been battling some illness for some time now.

    This confirmation comes just a few days after speculation were all over the place that the late had died last Wednesday what the family quickly refuted terming such reports as not only speculative but also misleading.

    “Mzee is unwell and in hospital receiving care and treatment. The said rumours are unfortunate and untrue,” Nyachae’s eldest son, who is also a judge in the East African Court of Justice in Arusha, Charles Nyachae corrected.

    The late makes top prominent political figures from Kisii Region who served in various governments stretching back from Mzee Jomo Kenyatta regime, Daniel Moi and into the former head of State Mwai Kibaki’s administration.

    He started his State duties when the first president appointed him to become a District Officer DC for Kangundo in 1960 before he was appointed to become Nyandarua’s District Commissioner DC in March 1963. He would later be elevated to become a Provincial Commissioner PC in Nyandarua in the year 1964.

    The veteran then rose up to become a Cabinet Minister for Agriculture and in 1998 appointed by President Moi to the Finance Cabinet Ministerial post. He was later removed from his Nyaribari Chache legislative position by a less known Dr. Monda before he finally called it quits in the year 2007 to venture into his own private activities.

    His late wife Mama Esther Nyaboke Nyachae died in the year 2016.
