Monday, May 1, 2023 –Police in Garissa have arrested four well-armed men who were wearing combats along the Garissa Road.’
The Sunday April 30 incidence saw the policemen move with speed to intercept the car the four were traveling in.


The National Police Service NPS reported that a contingent from the Border Police Unit alongside Garissa Police Station officers moved swiftly after receiving a timely tip off from the public.
The police then mounted an emergency roadblock where they waved down the suspect vehicle and found out that the team was well-armed with sophisticated weapons and devices.
“A white Toyota Probox was intercepted at Nuno area with four occupants, all donning military gear. Each of them has an ak47 rifle,” the statement read in part.
In that process, officers managed to recover 19 rifle magazines with 500 rounds of ammunition, a balaclava, and a face mask often used by thugs to remain anonymous.
Also found with the thugs were five mobile phones, a ballistic helmet, a knife, and a machete concealed under a mattress.
The impersonators would quickly be ferried to an unnamed police station where they will be interrogated and charged in court.
“Detectives are yet to establish the mission of the four suspects who were armed with the deadly arsenal and are currently grilling them at a highly guarded location,” the statement partly read.
Speaking on the matter, Director of Criminal Investigation DCI Mohamed Amin said the police had acted with the required speed making the exercise a success.
“DCI commends the cops based at Modika as the weapons would have had a devastating effect had they been used against innocent civilians.,” the agency wrote as quoted by various outlets.
