Teachers falling under Board of Management will have to wait alittle longer after their money was revised back to the Treasury.

BOM teachers who have gone without payment now for the fourth months were expecting to be paid with the money which the Treasury had released, recently.

    Education CS George Magoha.

However, bad news reaching Homenews.co.ke on Saturday August 8th morning indicated that the said funds which was to settle arrears for Board of Management teachers and other subordinate staff had been reversed.

Confirming the move, Kenya Secondary Schools Head of Association Kahi Indimuli said the funds had actually been reversed.

He explained that the Ministry of Education had also not released a circular to show how the money should be spend.

On Friday August 7, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani had announced that in consultations with the Ministry of Education led by Prof George Magoha, they will deliberate intensively on the matter as the money was to cushion both the BOM and employed TSC teachers.

“The funds that are supposed to be released to schools will be used to pay BOM teachers and other workers, and I have already given instructions for the release of the money.

“I will confirm with Magoha if the budget has been drawn and submitted to the Treasury,” The Daily Nation quoted Mr. Yatani.

This is happening despite Prof Magoha having assured Principals and BOM teachers that the funds will be availed to schools.

Further, the fate of teachers and students in private schools is yet to be sorted out by the ministry of Education together with the Treasury.
