Thursday, December 1, 2022 –President William Ruto faced a ‘Hustlers Fund’ hitch during its launch today in Nairobi.
Ruto who was also testing the App live in public faced some difficulties accessing the funds immediately after an automatic message prompted him to wait for 30 minutes before he could be approved.
As a demonstration, the head of State was using USSD code *254# to access the new loan facility live during an event organized at the Green Park Terminus on Wednesday November 30.
When he dialed the USSD code, the president received a message prompt saying ‘retry after 30 minutes’, sending everyone into moments of anxiety as well as confusion.
“Dear customer, please try again after 30 minutes,” the message read as Ruto and his deputy Gachagua waited with abated breath for the App to behave.
It would later allow him to take a sh 2,200 loan facility as he(Ruto) confirmed that on day one the platform had received over 6000 eligible requests.
It was announced that Kenyans who have subscribed to Safaricom, Airtel and Telekom will be required to dial the short code to access the loans.
Hustlers fund is Ruto’s number one flagship project two months after taking office.
