Kenya’s electoral body has set stage for the next exercise of signature collection from the public.

This happened on Tuesday evening when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission released official Template Form which will be used for the signature collection exercise expected to start immediately.
At least a total 1 million signatures are expected to be collected from voters who must be registered with IEBC in the first place. This is as per the Kenyan constitution.
And from the template seen by Homenews.co.ke, anyone who will be willing to sign the form will be required to indicate their names, Identity Card or Passport Numbers and the County of origin.
Further, they will also be required to declare their Constituency, Wards, Phone Numbers and Name of Polling Station where they were registered. Email and signature will also be mandatory.
“The Commission takes note of your request for guidance as well as approval of your proposed format and provides to you the approved format/template (copy enclosed herewith) that should be used for collection of signatures. To enable the voter verification process and to ensure completeness of the supporters’ records. All the fields in the said approved format/template should be duly filled as provided,” said IEBC in a letter to the BBI National official Secretariat.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM’s Raila Odinga are expected to officially launch the signature collection exercise on Wednesday November 25th which event will be taking place at the Kenyatta International Conference Center KICC Nairobi.
This is happening after the first launch was canceled at the last minutes in a manner that caught everyone un prepared until Mr. Odinga returned to the country from his DRC tour to assure supporters that everything was still in shape.
Both Dennis Waweru and Junet Mohammed have already displayed hope to collect not less than 4 million signatures from their supporters across the country.
