Thursday, May 11, 2023 –A Section of members in the entertainment industry have raised over sh 1 million to support their colleague rapper Colonel Mustafa born Daudi Mustapha and his mother.
In a media briefing held today Thursday, May 11 afternoon in Nairobi, Charles Njaguar Kanyi aka Jaguar, revealed that a group of persons from the entertainment circles have already collected more than one million shillings which they will hand over to the former Ogopa Djs rapper to make sure he is back to his feet.
He mentioned himself, Authur K and event organizer Big Ted as being among the big shots in the music industry who had fund-raised the cash following Mustafa’s financial woes that were made public last week.
The musician-cum-politician confessed that, despite being Mustafa’s close friend in the music industry since their days in Ogopa Djs record label, he(Mustafa) had never mentioned this issue to him for help.
“Mustafa is my friend but, interestingly, he had said nothing to me about his situation. I also saw this stuff on social media before I rung a person close to him for confirmation.
“Together with Arthur Kay and Big Ted, we have raised more than one million. We will check his mother at home and monitor the family until everything is fine,” Jaguar promised.
The former Starehe Member of Parliament MP also revealed that former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko had already offered Mustafa a job in one of his Coastal high-end nightclubs.
Speaking at the same venue today, Mustafa said he will prioritise opening two bank accounts – his and another for his ailing mother.
He also promised to build a home for the mother who had started construction before falling sick a few years ago.
The artist further disclosed that he sold his car to fund his dwindling music career, but still this couldn’t help things.
Fundraising exercise for Mustafa started when a video he claimed was leaked by a colleague at the place of work, went viral in which he was busy working there.
His fans around the country would share it for three consecutive days; triggering well-wishers to start sending him money through his M-Pesa mobile account.
Apart from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya MCSK boss Ezekiel Mutua helping the singer, earlier, Mustafa had confirmed receiving a whopping sh 600,000 plus, from Kenyans of goodwill.
So far in total, the artist has received approximately sh 2 Million plus, from well-wishers.
