Sunday, December 4, 2022 –Kenya Kwanza-allied political parties are embroiled in a fierce sibling rivalry in Bungoma County.
As National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula props up his long-time aide David Wafula Wakoli for the Senate seat, President William Ruto has his eyes set on United Democratic Alliance UDA Party candidate Mwambu Mabonga.
Wetang’ula and his close ally Musalia Mudavadi have, therefore, ganged up against Ruto’s candidate saying they have to protect their territory.
Yesterday Saturday December 3, the two who were campaigning for Mr. Wakoli urged voters to turn up in large numbers and pick the Ford Kenya candiadte to represent them in the Senate.
Wetang’ula and Mudavadi vowed to not pave way for any other candidate in the hotly contested race.
“We as the constituent parties agreed that we would not field any candidates in Garissa, Marakwet and Murang’a and we thought that in Bungoma, nobody else would field a candidate because since Wetang’ula is from Ford Kenya, we would return the seat to his party,” Mudavadi addressed.
He went on to state that their main aim is to unite Mulembe Region and give it appropriate leadership; a mandate they have vowed not to relent on.
“Wetang’ula and I have decided to work together and unite the people of Western so that we have one voice. We do not want jokes this time around,” the Prime Cabinet Secretary asserted.
The Prime CS went ahead to state that the Senate race must be won by Ford Kenya’s candidate Wafula Wakoli.
“This seat belongs to Ford Kenya and it will remain as such. When we begin this push and pull and start insulting one another, we will only limit the development of our country,” he added.
On his part, Speaker Wetangt’ula charged that it would be bad manners to allow a foreign party UDA to clinch the seat which belonged to him.
“I and @MusaliaMudavadi will be transversing across the nine constituencies of Bungoma drumming up support for the Lion’s party candidate Mwalimu David Wafula wakoli. The Bungoma senate seat belongs to Simba party!” Wetang’ula roared.
He seized the opportunity to thank Mr. Mudavadi for joining him in the push to make sure the Ford Kenya’s candidate wins.
