Renowned legal mind James Orengo who is also Senator Siaya County has schooled Deputy President William Ruto on the subject of Referendum.
Answering Ruto’s fresh calls for a multiple choice kind of a referendum, Lawyer Orengo noted that such utterances from a man who was as powerful as the deputy president was not only careless but also unfounded in law.

Speaking on Friday December 4, the revered legal scholar Orengo, in a blow by blow account, stated that there is nothing in laws of this land like ‘multiple choice Referendum’.
He said such utterance’s were ignorant and would amount to a product that might be challenged in future by those who don’t like the amendments.
“The Constitution says you shall vote on a bill. It does not say you shall vote on questions. We have five million signatures which shows that Kenyans approve of this process,” the Siaya senator explained.
Ruto and his team have of late been vouching for a multiple choice kind of a referendum saying that would give every Kenyan a chance to pick what they like and drop what is not right for them.
They came up with this strange solution after their daylong meeting recently held at his Karen home where he hosted a number of his top allies.
Even as this is going on, already the Building Bridges Initiative has collected over 5 million signatures for the electoral body IEBC to peruse through and approve.
