onday, March 22, 2021 -The newly appointed President of Tanzania Mama Samia Suluhu has cautioned those who think she will not perform her duty perfectly.
Speaking during today’s State function held in honour of the departed President John Pombe Magufuli, Ms Suluhu told off those who looked down upon her just because she was a woman; saying she will disapprove everyone who is yet to believe in her ability to govern the country.
The VP-turned-president was speaking this as fellow leaders from atleast 17 African nations were attending the event to bid farewell to her late boss.
“Kwa wale ambao wana mashaka kuwa mwanamke huyu hataweza kuwa rais wa Tanzania, nataka niwaambie aliyesimama hapa ni rais…” President Samia told those doubting her leadership ability.
Suluhu who is a married woman rose to become the next president of the Republic of Tanzania following the recent demise of the late John Pombe Magufuli.
The new president hailed his late boss whom he described as a keen leader who took time to learn all the roads and villages in the country. Suluhu further observed that the late Magufuli spared time to personally inspect projects across the nation.
“He used to call me even late in the night and ask to speak with my husband. He knew how to take care of his people,” Suluhu also said.
And speaking on the news about the death of Magufuli, she confessed that, at first, it was hard to accept that reality and felt like she was committing a crime to make it public.
“I felt I was Doing A Mistake By Announcing the Death of My President. I was really hesitant,” she said.
Fellow heads of State including President Uhuru Kenyatta pledged to accord her the required support as she takes charge of Tanzania.
