Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has for the very first time after leaving hospital disclosed why he had to undergo a surgery in Dubai.

Speaking to Nation Media newspaper on Sunday August 9th, Odinga recounted how he had developed a strange pain around his waist going down to his foot which kept on increasing by day before he decided to be diagnosed.

“I was having a bit of pain around my waist going around my legs all the way to my foot,” he told the Daily Nation at his Lush Gardens, Karen home in Nairobi.

Mr. Raila Odinga and wife Iddah.

This being his maiden interview since leaving the United Arab Emirates UEA for a medical trip then to the Coast for a short recovery tour, Odinga further disclosed that after he was diagnosed, his doctors asked him to attend a surgery as the only lasting solution.

According to him, medical report had indicated he was suffering from Spinal Canal Stenosis what he said was his first time in life to hear such a medical term.

“The doctors told me it is called Spinal Canal Stenosis,” he said. This is a narrowing of spaces of within the spine which can, in some people, become worse due to pressure exerted on the nerves.

Odinga then explained that: “What they did for me in Dubai is a minor procedure. It’s called lumbar decompression and fusion in an operation that takes some few hours and a few weeks to rest what I am doing right now”.

The opposition bigwig told the publication that since the surgery, he has improved and the pains are nolonger occurring hoping that they will disappear forever.

He was optimistic of recovering and bouncing back to the political arena as usual saying he however can do anything even from where he is sited now.

The ODM boss mentioned that he has been running his party well from home as well as receiving guests and attending to virtual conferences throughout the month.
