Saturday, January 28, 2023 – The National Cohesion and Integration Commission NCIC has summoned a vocal Orange Democratic Movement ODM politician over inflammatory remarks.
NCIC, on Saturday January 28, published a notice requiring the Korogocho Member of County Assembly MCA Absalom Odhiambo to appear before it for questioning over his conduct and remarks during January 23 Azimio la Umoja Rally held at Kamukunji Grounds.
NCIC Chairman Samuel Kobia on Saturday described the comments made by Absalom – the politician – as incitement.
The Odinga’s ally, therefore, is expected to undergo investigations after writing a statement with the moral body.
His comments, according to the chairman, can cause animosity in a country where politics thrive more than anything else.
“Political development in the last few days is creating unnecessary tension that, if not well managed, can plunge the country into chaos.
“On Monday, January 23, the MCA inter alia invoked ethnic hatred while inciting Kenyans to violence. Therefore, we have summoned Hon. Absalom Odhiambo Onyango to record a statement.
NCIC statement did not disclose the exact day and date the MCA was needed to appear before it(the commission).
Absalom, while delivering his speech in the Azimio rally held at Kamukunji Grounds recently, stated that it was high time all shops in Nairobi are forced to close and people asked to march to the Statehouse to force a ‘thief’ Ruto out of office.
This, he added, will make the president to respect the opposition leader.
