Revealed: Nairobi County to be dissolved after Elachi’s resignation

National Government is planning to dissolve the Nairobi County Government after Speaker Beatrice Elachi’s unexpected resignation.

Political scientists and legal minds have made this claims arguing that, so far, Nairobi has had no substantial leadership since Mr. Mike Sonko took over power.

For instance, Lawyer Steve Ogolla has weighed into the matter saying in the first place, Sonko has no deputy and he has never had one, two he has no functions; and three the speaker is gone and that due to the three reasons, Nairobi could be going back to its rightful owners very soon.

Newly appointed NMS head General Major Mohammed Badi with embattled Governor Mike Sonko.

He added that Governor Sonko’s days were now numbered after the Elachi’s move to resign but that she could be back in another capacity after Nairobi County is wiped away back to the national government.

“Elachi enjoys firm support of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader, Raila Odinga.”

“Her resignation can be explained in the broader context of the removal of Governor Sonko.”

“You don’t have a Deputy Governor, you don’t have a Speaker, and you don’t have functions, but then you have corruption cases,” he argued.

Kenyans woke up on news that Speaker Beatrice Elachi was resigning on Tuesday August 11 and that she had picked on his deputy to run the affairs at the assembly that has been bogged with rivalry and constant fights.

Though, she picked on his deputy John Kamangu who is also MCA Ruai, the said MCA is also facing accusations of indiscipline and he is expected to appear before a disciplinary hearing in their Jubilee Party.

The session, according to party sources, is scheduled this Thursday August 13th what may further complicate his new role at the assembly. And in the case that he loses the case, there are high possibilities that Jubilee Party will be left in a fix forcing the party leader who is also the head of State Uhuru Kenyatta to finally dissolve the county.
