Dr. Ruto used the opportunity to aske the KRA officials to carry out their duties in a transparent and smooth manner so that to improve their tax collection base.

“The Kenya Revenue Authority should facilitate the smooth and efficient payment of taxes by deploying a simple, transparent and convenient system for all Kenyans, backed by the best technology available,” he stated.

The head of State added that this efficiency will provide more resources for the pursuit of his government’s role in shared development as well as transformation of the entire nation.

Addressing KRA senior staff at the headquarters, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lauded KRA officials and promised them freedom of carrying out their duty without political interference.

Gachagua noted that, unlike, previous regimes, their government will not use KRA to fight political wars in the country.

He also thanked his boss William Ruto for working on ways to turning the country into a self-reliant economy saying borrowing had messed up the country for a long time.

“I thank you Mr. President for seeing it necessary to turn this economy through tax collection. These measures will ensure that this government does not always have to borrow, but to generate own revenues. I encourage you that your are on the right trajectory,” Gachagua addressed.
