Monday, November 28, 2022 –President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta today reignited their faded bromance in a peace meeting held in Nairobi.
Ruto and his ex-boss Kenyatta were among other leaders who showed up in the Third Round Inter-Congolese Peace Consultations popularly referred to as Nairobi III meetingt that was attended by other heads of State. The meeting was held at safari Park Nairobi.
This was the very first convergence the two were showing up together since Ruto’s swearing in event that was held at Moi Sports Center Kasarani. The swearing in ceremony took place on September 13, 2022.
In the Safari Park function today, the duo could be seen enjoying a chat as other dignitaries looked on from the sides.
President Ruto used the opportunity to heap praises at Uhuru saying he was glad after his former boss accepted top take over the peace envoy role.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta here, and myself were on different sides of the political contest two months ago and the competition was stiff. After the elections, I met his excellency the president, looked at him in the eye and I told him, ‘Mr President, you have started a very important process in the EAC and I would like you to continue that process,’ and he told me he was ready to do it despite all that had gone on,” Ruto revealed.
The head of State went ahead to state that Mr. Kenyatta had done a wonderful job in both DRC and Ethiopia.
“Because of the interest of our nation, region, continent and because peace was important to Kenya and DRC and our region, Kenyatta has done a wonderful job as he facilitates this process because we value peace,” stated Ruto.
On his side, Uhuru updated that his peace keeping mission around Africa was bearing fruits as rebels were already joining the peace talk table.
