President John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania has continued to flex his muscles on his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta.

From an official Kenyan press release of Tuesday Sept 15th, Tanzania is now finally added to 146 countries that will not have to be subjected to mandatory quarantine.

Citizens from Tanzania will, according to latest government orders, not be subjected to such terms whenever their citizens jet in the country.

Tanzania and Kenya have had a strenuous relationship especially when the latter tried to impose heavy measures on the former which then retaliated by barring any flights from Kenya to touch down their soil.

Kenya, in its defense, argued that their neighbouring Tanzania had not followed to the end Covid-19 guidelines making it hard to be included in the ‘safe list’ of countries which could travel in and outside Kenya.

Kenyan government then tried to reach out to Tanzanian authorities with an aim of getting a an amicable solution on their tiff but Tanzanian authorities repeatedly turned them down. This is according to a report from Kenya Civil Aviation Authority KCAA.

The controversial Kenyan list that had 130 nations in it excluded four nations (Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Nigeria). Interestingly, it was only Tanzania from East Africa which had been affected what informed President John Pombe Magufuli to also question what Kenya was upto to bar them from freely traveling to the country and immediately stopped Kenyan flights in retaliation.

Since then, President Uhuru Kenyatta has been trying to reach out to Tanzania through emissaries so that they can solve their row but it was until he bowed to Magufuli’s pressure that the heat seems to be finally cooling down.

Our sources reported that the defiant president of Tanzania was feeling unmoved with Kenya’s restrictions triggering a similar reactionary measure from Tanzania.
