riday, March 26, 2021 -Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli has finally been laid to rest at his village of Chato near the shores of Lake Victoria.
The former President, according to Citizen Digital, was interred in a family cemetery of Chato located near the shores of the east African lake.
Those who loved him termed the former president as an aggressive anti-corruption leader who fought ‘fangs and tongs’ anyone who wanted to steal from public coffers.
While paying her last tribute to the fallen boss, former Vice President-tuned-President Samia Suluhu hailed Magufuli as a hero for Tanzanian people whom she promised to emulate throughout her rule.
“I want to assure you that we will keep all his promises that are in our … party’s manifesto and also the promises he made to his people,” Hassan, Tanzania’s first female head of state, said in a televised service held in a stadium.
The late Magufuli’s death, though still shrouded in controversy, those who were opposed to his leadership linked the death to Covid-19 virus that he completely played down.
And about his demise, alot of speculations continued to play out when he suddenly disappeared from public view from February 27. This sparked speculations with some quarters talking of Covid-19 attack while others reduced it to a mere flue.
His VP, Samia Suluhu would then embark on nationwide campaigns where she pumped false hopes into people of Tanzania that their president was alive and had even sent her to pass gratitude to them.
Her fellow State officials came out in numbers dismissing rumours that their boss Magufuli was no more.
