Tuesday, April 18, 2023 –New politicians who recently bumped into each other during last year’s campaign ahead of the general election are now set to marry.
Youthful Mathira Constituency Member of Parliament Eric Wambui and Murang’a County Woman Representative Betty Maina are in their advanced stages of walking down the aisle just seven months after winning their plum political positions.

Citizen Digital indicated that, over the weekend, Mr Wambui officially proposed to Betty. A request that the latter quickly accepted and flaunted this on social media.
Present in the function were among others, Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), and Nominated Senator Veronicah Maina.
“One day at a time sweet Jesus. He makes all things beautiful in his own time. Thanks my sisters for organising this wonderful surprise. My dear Eric, you rock!” Betty boasted on Facebook.
On his part, MP Eric Wambui shared several moments from the event and captioned this with, “And out of love, she said yes!”
MP Wammbui is now set to visit Betty’s home next Saturday where he will officially meet her parents and the clan to table an official proposal with the family.
Wambui served as MCA for Konyo Ward in Mathira, Nyeri County and was on course to defend his seat when President William Ruto picked Rigathi Gachagua to be his running mate creating a room for Mr. Wambui to takeover.

On her pat, Betty previously served as a director at Athi Water Company. She entered politics through the Jubilee Party but quickly changed and joined popular UDA Party after reading the mood on the ground.
She would go on to bag the seat, joining Wambui in Parliament hence cementing their new love even further.
