Sunday, May 14, 2023 -A police officer who recently shot dead a loaner in Uganda has today been nabbed on the border.

The rogue policeman was arrested at Malaba Customs offices on the border of Kenya-Uganda while attempting to escape from his country.

“On Sunday, May 14 at around 0700 hours, the suspect was arrested in Busia Municipality at Customs by the joint team,” a statement from the Ugandan police partly read.

Ugandan authorities revealed that the suspect had already crossed to the side of Kenya when he was busted. He has since been taken back to Uganda for interrogation and prosecution.

Last week, the police in question was captured on CCTV footage aiming and shooting a helpless and un armed financial officer at a lending organisation.

The financer would be identified as of Asian origin.

The heinous act saw President Yoweri Museveni issue a statement.

He wondered why someone who was not on duty was holding a gun outside his station.

Terming this as another gap in the security sector, Museveni also sought to know why a private security guard manning the loaning institution allowed the armed policeman to access their office before identifying himself and what mission had brought him there.

Ugandan police in cooperation with their Kenyan counterparts made this arrest a success.

The said officer who caused a similar drama in 2018 had been banned from holding guns due to his mental health issues.
