Friday, March 12, 2012 -President Uhuru Kenyatta has banned all Political gatherings for a period of 30 days.

In his Covid-19 address made on Friday March 12 at Harambee House, The Head of State warned fellow politicians from holding any form of political event saying if found, law will be applied regardless of one’s social status.

The directive, according to observers, could have been informed by the fact that the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is currently fighting for his life at Nairobi Hospital after he tested Covid-19 positive last Wednesday.

Kenyatta’s fresh directives are coming at a time the country is experiencing the third wave of Covid-19 with word having it that all ICU beds in major hospitals around the city and the country at large had already filled up by patients.

“All forms of political gatherings are prohibited for 30 days from today and this applies to everyone including myself. Anyone found breaking this rule will be held responsible by our law,” Uhuru announced.

The President, in his raft of measures, also asked police and County government’s administration to control social gatherings around the country.

He directed that funeral services be arranged and concluded within 72 hours to avoid huge gatherings.

And on the much awaited curfew announcement, Mr. Kenyatta extended it by another 60 days where bars and restaurants will shut down at 9 and night curfews implemented from 10PM to dawn, as usual.

In attendance at Harambee House was Council of Governors Chairman Martin Wambora.
