The few and many years I have worked in the journalism industry, I noticed jobs are plenty in media houses but the pay is disheartening. Many media houses will absorb you very fast but they will not be ready to pay you that fast.
In journalism profession, one could become a broadcast journalist where you will be spending a lot of your day infront of cameras and recorders. Tv and radio stations will be ready to hire your services.
Secondly, you could also become a news reporter in the fields. Chances are high that you will start from here before moving up the ladder. Many news anchors you see on Tv started here. It is all about gathering news from the field and bringing them in the newsroom.
Thirdly, why not decide to be an online or digital journalist. Many traditional media houses are turning digital and ready to take talented brains with them. Love this area and you won’t go dry.
You could also start your own digital platform like news or niche blog, Youtube channels etc and make a living from their revenues. The array of income avenues are many but you will have to be patient. Blogging is no gold mine. No short cut here.
Last but not least, you can as well choose to become a book writer and start writing books for commercial purposes.
In a nutshell, opportunities in journalism are plenty and it is upon you to choose which one is best suitable for you. It goes without mentioning corporate journalism where you are hired as a communication officer in any firm as well as government.
Additionally, you could also become an independent communication consultant with your own office. This is another lucrative area.
